The Gardeners maintain massive agricultural fields across the Garden and mostly ignore the small folk who live in and around them, in spaces the Gardeners leave behind (e00 01:29:15). When small folk help tend the fields, the Gardeners pay them little mind; when small folk damage crops, the Gardeners clear them out as pests (e00 01:29:15).
When a war broke out between rival small-folk burrow families — the Garden’s worst conflict — the Gardeners intervened directly, wiping out the warring families and reseeding the Garden in their wake (e00 01:31:38). No individual Gardener has been named; they’ve only been described as a group.
