A small harengon warlock, isekai’d to Edyrea from The Garden (e00 01:12, e01 00:27), who came out of a crate the Magisterium describes as holding a specimen composed entirely of anti-essence (e01 00:07, e01 00:26). His warlock patron, a powerful dark entity bound in his soul, he calls the Passenger; he says he is on the run (e02 00:46, e02 00:46, e02 00:47), and that it was put inside him when a cult abducted and sacrificed him (e04 01:01, e04 01:01). He is heading to Holst with the others to cure the Hollowing Plague, which Mikhail Asimi says they seem immune to (e04 01:13, e04 01:19).

Appearance and personality
Wisp stands about three feet tall, with ears extending a bit past that (e00 01:12). He is a harengon (a rabbit person), black and white, with glowing orange ember eyes, wearing loose-fitting trousers and a little vest and trailing a bit of smoke (e01 00:27). A collar with a tag reading “Wisp” was found on the ground after he came out of the crate (e01 00:29).
He is energetic, bright, and curious, but doesn’t pick up on social cues or normal self-preservation instincts, and doesn’t always register when his actions endanger others; he’s reckless, verging on naive (e00 01:12). He’s not afraid of combat — something inside him actively pushes him toward grand bouts of violence (e00 01:13). He can’t read (e02 00:13, e02 00:50). Above ground in Edyrea, the cosmology is so foreign to him that none of his instincts from home fire, and he can’t tell what time of day it is (e03 00:21, e03 00:21, e03 00:21). Vargus calls him “Otter” (e02 00:57). Though rabbits are traditionally herbivores, Wisp eats jerky, eggs, and pork chops on the regular, and doesn’t connect what he eats with the stomachaches it gives him later (e04 00:02, e04 00:02, e04 00:03). Sleeping in cities gives him the heebie-jeebies (e04 00:21). He signs his name with a big X (e04 01:24). He has no pockets (e05 00:42, e05 00:44).
Background
Wisp’s family lived in a burrow built into an abandoned waterway on The Garden, left behind by the giants who tend that world’s fields (e00 01:29). A catastrophe, not yet detailed, is what led to Wisp being isekai’d to Edyrea (e00 01:29). He says his people lived in the Garden and helped tend the crops, staying out of the way of the gardeners, who were big enough to squish you underfoot and would kill you if you stepped out of line, or took food from the land (e04 01:00, e04 01:00, e04 01:01, e04 01:03). There were no oceans; he has never been on a boat, though he once built a raft on a pond (e04 01:00, e04 01:00, e04 01:00). His mom always said that if someone crosses you, slit their throat (e04 01:22); she also told him not to worship gods, and he says his soul’s already spoken for (e05 00:25). A messenger of the Postmaster told him that without a god his soul will float endlessly in the overflow of the keeper, with no afterlife (e05 00:25).
He says he was abducted by a cult, which sacrificed his whole family (e04 00:58, e04 00:58): people in cloaks and hoods grabbed them, took them to some site and sacrificed them; the Passenger was put inside him and he survived, fought his way out of the cult, and wound up here somehow (e04 01:01, e04 01:01, e04 01:01, e04 01:02). Asked whether he has ever died, he tentatively raises his hand: he honestly doesn’t remember (e04 00:49).
Orrin released him from a locked crate the Magisterium sent with him to a fissure (e01 00:26). The Magisterium’s letter calls the crate’s contents a specimen composed entirely of anti-essence (e01 00:07), and Orrin’s wand glows bright pink toward the crate and later toward Wisp (e01 00:14, e01 02:01). Coming out, Wisp asked whether it was endurance tests or pain threshold benchmarks today (e01 00:27). He tells the Nightforge guild he is from a place called the Garden, and most recently from the crate (e02 00:36), and tells the party that people here keep you in cages, and that they were put into combat with goblins (e02 00:49, e02 00:49).
Abilities and gear
Wisp is a warlock with the Pact of the Blade; his patron is bound inside him (e00 01:13). He describes it as a powerful dark entity bound in his soul and calls it the Passenger: it hasn’t talked so far, and it works like a powerful compulsion to fight things (e02 00:46, e02 00:46, e02 00:46, e02 00:46). He says it isn’t a person, but something else that got stuck inside him; Rue calls it Frank (e04 00:58, e04 00:58, e04 01:01). With a burst of smoke from his hand he conjures a massive two-handed sword roughly as wide as he is and two to three times his length — by all appearances far too large for him to wield (e00 01:14, e01 00:27). He fights by using its weight to throw himself around, and is airborne much of the time (e01 00:30). When he is hit, his body turns to smoke and the weapon mostly passes through (e01 00:47). His mage hand looks like a trail of little smoky hands (e03 00:47). He can ritually cast detect magic, sensing magic within about 30 feet (e05 00:58, e05 00:59, e05 01:47).
Flaws and Covenants
Flaws are drawbacks the GM gives when a character does something they maybe shouldn’t have, or something goes badly; covenants are deals a character makes with the GM for a result, costing more the stronger they are (e01 01:29).
- Flaw — 13s are botches (received e00 02:23): after he rolled many 13s for his stats, the GM let him reroll them in exchange for a flaw: his rolls of 13 are treated as botches, as are 1s (e00 02:23, e00 02:23, e00 02:23, e00 02:23).
- Covenant (e00): Wisp wields the massive sword through a magical covenant that leaves him at a disadvantage on Dexterity saves and checks whenever he isn’t holding a heavy weapon (e00 02:23).
- Covenant (e01, received e01 01:30): in a dire moment, Wisp takes a deal in which an attack that missed hits and kills a goblin, and he gets another attack (e01 01:30, e01 01:31). Once per long rest he can make a missed attack hit; after he does, until his next long rest, he has disadvantage on attacks whenever a teammate is downed (e01 01:30, e01 01:31).
- Flaw — Spell Burn (received e03 01:03): the arcanery explosion in Wriem engulfed Wisp and the others in fire that burned, but not physically; the GM gave everyone caught in it a flaw called Spell Burn and didn’t say what it does (e03 01:02, e03 01:02, e03 01:03).
Story so far
The Fissure Below Wriem (e01–e04)
Released from the Magisterium’s crate by Orrin into a fissure full of moon goblins, Wisp charged into the fight with his conjured sword, took his second covenant, and stabilized the downed Vargus (e01 00:27, e01 01:30, e01 01:41). He led everyone out of the caves with no method at all, and told the others about the Passenger (e02 00:25, e02 00:46). In Wriem he became a fan of Mikhail Asimi‘s swords, received the Spell Burn flaw in the arcanery explosion, and was bitten by a boy with the Hollowing Plague (e03 00:12, e03 01:03, e03 01:17). At Willy’s Wards he proposed keeping the boy asleep and going to Holst to stop the plague where it started, and told the others about the cult that put the Passenger inside him (e04 00:16, e04 00:19, e04 01:01). The next morning Mikhail found no sign of the plague in him and sent the party to Holst (e04 01:12, e04 01:19). The Road to Holst (e05–)
e05. Wisp was offered the Oath of Speedy Delivery in the Postmaster’s temple, and was singled out by a doomsayer the Queen’s Guard dragged away, who called him “a gift” and “a great appendage for the wound” (e05 00:25, e05 00:51). Against Kendrick, he sensed the relics in the barrel, and at the last moment turned his blade, something malevolent and eager in his eyes, to knock Kendrick out with the flat (e05 01:48, e05 01:52, e05 01:53).
