People who have some type of sorcerous ability or power, either because they’re descended from Elysium or because they’ve “awoken” some other way (e00 00:22:00).
Details
Most metamortal bloodlines trace back to Galgleroten, the god of fertility, who is compared to Genghis Khan for how widely his descendants have spread (e00 02:06:11).
Metamortals who live in Beau Monde, Wriem’s enclave for their kind, are called Beaumondians. They are roughly tier 6–7 in power, and their loyalties vary — to a Transcendent, to the God-Queen or one of her children, to a commercial entity, or as independent mercenaries or do-gooders. Not all Beaumondians are ethical; the GM compared the range to real-world figures with outsized influence (e00 02:07:12).
Beaumondians wage more or less constant war against Underwriem and The Forgotten Depths, and are broadly celebrated by the public as superheroes for it (e00 02:08:18). To legally delve into the Forgotten Deep or a Pale fissure, a person must belong to a guild and pay tax on any loot or essence collected (e00 02:09:21).
