Small goblins that pour out of green portals in a fissure below Wriem; if their bodies aren’t destroyed, they rise again in the light of the full moon, bigger and stronger each time. Building-sized ones broke out of the fissure into Wriem’s streets, where the giant one was killed by Gabriel Landaluce (e02 01:10, e03 01:36).
Details
Hundreds of small goblins came out of three green portals in the fissure that Orrin and the Nightforge guild entered (e01 00:17). The guild’s tiefling twins named them moon goblins and said they had seen portals like these before (e01 00:18).
A moon goblin whose body isn’t disposed of — by burning or some other total destruction — rises again under the light of a full moon, bigger and stronger than before; that is how they age. The ones in the fissure were mostly young, in their first cycle (e01 00:19). One towered over the rest: thicker, stronger, commanding the others in language instead of skittering, and probably dead at least a couple of times already (e01 00:19). Gilbert beheaded the largest of the goblins on the ledge (e01 00:21).
Light from a full red moon, seen through a portal in a crack in the cavern floor, spilled into the cavern; goblins killed nearby began to knit back together (e01 00:58, e01 01:01) and got back up a little bigger and stronger (e01 01:04). The revived goblins were more nimble, faster, and smarter than before (e01 01:11).
Rue noted that the goblins attacked the Black Wake as soon as it came through a portal, and went back to what she called normal once the ship was pulled back out (e01 00:44). A moon goblin patted on the head freezes and falls over like a statue (e01 00:46).
The giant moon goblin
A house-sized goblin with horns and tusks, which the GM described as looking like a final evolution of the little goblins, was killed in the cavern by the Black Wake and came back to life in the moonlight; the GM called it a giant moon goblin, and the anti-essence wand glowed toward it (e01 00:35, e01 00:36, e01 01:56, e01 02:00, e01 02:05). After the cavern floor collapsed it grew wings, and grew stronger by squishing smaller goblins, each of which came back together bigger (e02 00:08, e02 00:10, e02 00:19). It burst out of a collapsing square in Wriem on four massive wings, kaiju-sized, with three building-sized moon goblins behind it, one of which Mikhail Asimi cut apart (e02 01:11, e02 01:11, e02 01:13). Mikhail fought the giant one in the city and was beaten back (e03 00:26, e03 01:07); Gabriel Landaluce killed it with a fireball of golden light straight through its head, spraying black blood (e03 01:36, e03 01:36). Two smaller moon goblins were still roaring in the south of the city afterward (e03 01:43).
With the wand out among the goblins’ bodies, the GM told Orrin he was surrounded by things made of anti-essence (e01 01:53).
