A guild that delves Fissures to close their portals; the guild Orrin was assigned to support.
Details
The Nightforge guild is one of the Guilds (e01 00:04). Its members wear Nightforge colors (e01 00:05). Four guildies met Orrin at the mouth of a fissure in a closed-off street in Wriem (e01 00:05, e01 00:12):
- Caspian — a tall elf.
- Gilbert — a pudgy halfling.
- The Shadow Horn twins, Farah and Thomas — an archer and a sword-and-shield fighter who can swap places (e02 00:11).
Mikhail Asimi is also a member (e03 00:10).
The job was a collaborative mission with no one in charge (e01 00:11). The fissure was supposed to be tier nine, but hundreds of moon goblins came out of its portals (e01 00:17).
The guild took heavy damage: Caspian’s ice and Gilbert’s invisibility were both weakened, and the twins were injured (e01 01:28, e01 01:42). Caspian lost a pinky closing a portal (e01 01:54, e01 01:55). The anti-essence wand did not glow toward any of the guild’s members (e01 02:01).
Members are not allowed to interact with things that come out of portals in any way other than clearing them out of their world (e02 00:13). Only the strongest people from the guilds can go deeper than the pit Caspian calls the actual Forgotten Deep (e02 00:28). The guild has a guild hall (e02 00:11).
After the fall into the deeper cavern, the guildies judged the situation — portals from multiple planes, which Caspian says makes it tier seven — beyond them (e02 00:11). Gilbert told the party the guild would go back and get Mikhail Asimi to handle the situation, and part ways with them, and that if it ever came back on the guild, the party would be hunted down and killed; every portal was closed, so the guild would get paid (e02 01:05, e02 01:05, e02 01:06).
Mikhail Asimi’s profile calls the guild an outfit of predominantly tier eights (e03 00:10, e03 00:10). After the party reached the surface, Mikhail told Gilbert to take his crew back to headquarters and then go close the last portal, and the guild geared up to do it (e03 00:10, e03 00:11, e03 00:16).
Mikhail Asimi says that Gilbert is sneaking out of the guild to sell the identities of the anti-essence beings who escaped the fissure to the Queen’s Guard, and that Caspian came out of a portal as a baby (e04 01:12, e04 01:12, e04 01:16, e04 01:19); he wants Caspian away from the guilds (e04 01:18).
Caspian says the guild is not exactly flush with gold right now (e05 00:12), and Lauren has heard it isn’t doing too well (e05 00:33).
The letter that assigned Orrin to the guild gives “NF-19” as a designation and says it was producing anti-essence creatures at a rate the surveyors called concerning (e01 00:07).
